CANBERRA – Garret Cockerill found the back of the net twice and Mario Valery-Trabucco scored two goals as the CBR Brave crushed the Newcastle Northstars 8-2 at the Phillip Ice Skating Centre on Sunday afternoon.

Cockerill’s first goal came at 1:33 of the first period unassisted. Cockerill’s second goal, a short handed goal, came at 7:33 of the second period, with Joseph Hughes getting the assist.  Cockerill also scored two assists for four points.

Valery-Trabucco scored his first goal, which would go on to be the game winner, at 14:21 of the second period, with Wehebe Darge and Casey Kubara picking up the assists. Valery-Trabucco scored his second goal at 14:05 of the third period, with Casey Kubara and Wehebe Darge picking up the assists.

Andy Camenzind’s first goal was scored at 12:27 of the second period, with Tyler Kubara and Garret Cockerill picking up the assists. Camenzind scored his second goal at 0:27 of the second period, with Joseph Hughes getting the assist.

Wehebe Darge scored one goal and two assists for three points.  Tyler Kubara scored one goal and one assist for two points.  Joseph Hughes and Casey Kubara got two assists for two points.

Mackenzie Gallagher and Patrick Nadin were the goal scorers for the Northstars.

Alex Tetreault was the winning goalie for CBR Brave, making 23 saves on 25 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.920.  James Downie was the losing goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 16 saves on 21 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.762. Downie left the game at 12:35 of the second period.  Ethan Spelde was the backup goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 12 saves on 15 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.800.
