NEWCASTLE – Liam Manwarring found the back of the net twice and two goals to Patrick Nadin saw the Newcastle Northstars beat the Sydney Ice Dogs 8-4 at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium on Saturday evening.

Manwarring’s first goal, a power play goal, came at 5:16 of the first period, with John Kennedy and Dash Quartarolo picking up the assists. Manwarring scored his second goal at 3:20 of the third period, with Dash Quartarolo and Shane Southwood picking up the assists.  Manwarring also got two assists for four points.

Nadin scored his first goal, a power play goal, at 6:31 of the first period, with Francis Drolet and Robert Malloy picking up the assists. Nadin scored his second goal, a power play goal, at 9:26 of the third period, with Francis Drolet and Liam Manwarring picking up the assists.  Nadin also picked up one assist for three points.

Daniel Berno scored his first goal at 11:17 of the first period, with Francis Drolet getting the assist.  The second goal for Berno, which became the game winner, was scored at 18:18 of the second period, with Timothy Stanger and Francis Drolet picking up the assists.

Robert Malloy scored one goal and two assists for three points.

Francis Drolet got four assists for four points, and Dash Quartarolo got two assists for two points.

Strat Allen scored one goal and two assists for three points for the Ice Dogs.  Grant Toulmin got three assists for three points, and Jeremy Vasquez scored one goal and one assist for two points.

James Downie was the winning goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 26 saves on 30 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.867.  Jakob Doornbos was the losing goalie for Sydney Ice Dogs, making 47 saves on 55 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.855.
