
SYDNEY – A hat trick to Daniel Berno and three points to Patrick Ward helped the Newcastle Northstars win over the Sydney Bears 8-5 at the Macquarie Ice Rink on Saturday evening.
Berno’s first goal came at 1:47 of the first period, with Robert Malloy and Ethan Hawes picking up the assists. Berno’s second goal came at 15:07 of the second period, with Connor Schultz getting the assist. Berno scored his third goal at 1:54 of the second period, with Mackenzie Gallagher and Francis Drolet picking up the assists.
Patrick Ward and Francis Drolet scored one goal and two assists for three points each. Liam Manwarring got three assists for three points.
Connor Schultz scored the game winning goal at 4:27 of the 2nd, assisted by Patrick Ward. Schultz also scored one assist for two points.
Robert Malloy and Mackenzie Gallagher got two assists for two points each.
Michael Poirier, Brian Funes and Jake Ratcliffe all scored one goal and one assist for two points each for the Bears. Timothy Newmark got two assists for two points.
